Land of Happiness & Heritage
Known as the Land of the Thunder Dragon, Bhutan is one of the world’s last unspoiled destinations — a place where monasteries cling to cliffsides, prayer flags flutter in mountain winds, and happiness is measured as a national priority.
Welcome to the start of your journey. Arrive at Bagdogra Airport or NJP Railway Station. You’ll be greeted by your ElderGo Tour Manager and begin the scenic drive in our comfortable AC Toyota Coaster through lush tea gardens to Phuentsholing — the gateway town at the India-Bhutan border. Check into your hotel and relax after the journey.
After completing immigration formalities, we begin our ascent to Thimphu — Bhutan’s serene mountain capital. The road winds through stunning valleys and pine forests.
In the evening, visit the towering Buddha Dordenma — a massive golden statue symbolising peace and prosperity, overlooking the entire valley. Free time to explore Thimphu’s charming streets at leisure.
Note: Travellers arriving directly at Paro Airport will be picked up and transferred to Thimphu to join the group.
A full day exploring the cultural heart of Thimphu.
We drive to Punakha via the breathtaking Dochula Pass (3,100m), adorned with 108 memorial stupas. On a clear day, the snow-capped Himalayas stretch across the horizon.
Later, we visit the majestic Punakha Dzong — the “Palace of Great Happiness” — situated at the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers.
The evening includes a walk across the famous Punakha Suspension Bridge with serene sunset views, followed by a riverside picnic. (Optional: River rafting)
After breakfast, we drive to the picturesque valley of Paro. Visit Kyichu Lhakhang — one of Bhutan’s oldest and holiest temples, built in the 7th century.
In the evening, unwind at the resort with a bonfire, music, and games specially curated for the group.
The highlight of the journey.
Optional: Visit the midpoint of Tiger’s Nest Monastery — hike for approximately 3 hours or take a pony ride for 1.5 hours to reach the viewpoint. For those who prefer a relaxed morning, we visit the historic Rinpung Dzong instead.
After lunch, visit a traditional Bhutanese farmhouse to experience local cuisine with unlimited butter tea and wine. Try your hand at archery — Bhutan’s national sport — and enjoy a traditional hot stone bath.
The day concludes with a mesmerising mask dance performance and live music.
After breakfast, we drive back to Phuentsholing, enjoying the scenic landscapes along the way. The evening is free for shopping, exploring local markets, or relaxing at the hotel.
Note: Travellers departing from Paro will be transferred to Paro Airport for their return flight.
After breakfast, transfer from Phuentsholing to Bagdogra Airport or NJP Railway Station for your onward journey.
